At Illustrated Children’s Books we have a passion for children’s illustrators and the fantastic journeys they can take us on. This is because the interpretations that children’s illustrators lend to prose turns even the most basic tale in to a magical experience that we can enjoy time and time again.

There are many quality children’s illustrators working today but have chosen to focus our efforts in bringing the famous children’s illustrators of times past to a modern audience. This involves using modern technological processes to restore original works and reproduce them with the care and presentation that great children’s illustrators deserve.

The most well known period for children’s illustrators was the so called “Golden Age of Illustration”, running from the 1880s through until after the First World War. During this time, new printing techniques and technology allowed children’s illustrators to experiment with colours and compositions in exciting new ways. These new processes also made printed publications substantially cheaper and easier to produce, leading to explosion of interest amongst the general public for the medium. This demand led to some children’s illustrators of the time becoming incredibly wealthy, although many more have faded in to obscurity with the passage of time.

At Illustrated Children’s Books we love the idea of returning these forgotten gems to the world to be appreciated once more. We are adding new works by different children’s illustrators all the time so make sure you check back regularly!
